DiVosta Homes Holds Open House to Benefit Our Chapter
On a recent Saturday, your North Treasure Coast Chapter was honored to be the recipient of $1000 from DiVosta Homes. They invited the community to their new development in Vero Beach, Waterway Village, featuring homes with a SAFE ROOM. This room is built to FEMA standards for a tornado shelter and doubles as a walk-in closet in the master bedroom.
The Red Cross brought its new Emergency Response Vehicle, Ford Expedition van and utility trailer, CPR and AED training materials, preparedness literature and raffled off a very nicely equipped First Aid and Preparedness Kit.
In addition, author Sandra Fontana (pictured right, in front of Safe Room), also a local Red Cross volunteer, was on site signing her new book “Hurricane Guide: Be Ready. Be Safe”. This is a very practical guide to preparing, organizing and protecting your home and family, presented with instructions for children, elderly and disabled family members and your pet, your boat and your valuables. The book is available at Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, Vero Beach Book Center and from HurricaneGuide.net.
