Volunteers Worldwide
Halfway across the world, two American Red Cross volunteers got together after six years! In 2003-04 Kathy Zhai, a Chinese American from Hawaii and Flo Clowes from Vero Beach worked to serve the residents of Guam following the Typhoon Pongoson. Kathy later moved to back to her hometown, Shenyang, China, and opened a small non-profit school where instructors teach students the basics in English, computer skills and the Bible.
The two were delighted to finally get together again. Flo gave informal sessions in First Aid and Disaster Operations. China does have a Red Cross organization but no classes for residents in preparing for a disaster. Now Kathy's TLC School will have a basis to build upon.
